Late today, I have been to the Black Isle with Sian and the children to a wildlife park. Both children enjoyed themselves even little Tristan. I took a few pictures and thought you might like to see a couple.

Here are Jacob and Sian feeding a very large pig with Tristan looking on!

We had a lovely day out but very tiring. There was a children's playbarn so Jacob had great fun playing on everything. I think he will sleep well tonight. Anyway as a result of my outing today I haven't managed to get any more stock into the shop today so tomorrow it looks like I'll be office bound.

Continuing on the back to school theme from earlier this wek I was looking at some eco tips for getting back into the swing of school life.
So first of all if its at all possible think about walking to school. Driving an average journey to school (2.4km to primary school) produces enough CO2 to fill 70 UEFA footballs. Walking is great excersise and means children arrive at school awake and alert. All schools are required to have travel plans by the year 2010 (2009 in London) which set out ways to encourage children to travel to school by sustainable modes. Contact your child’s school or your local authority for more details.

Think about reusable packaging for packed lunches. Clingfilm and paper towels can’t be recyled so it’s better to put sandwiches in washable plastic tubs.Fruit juice and squash cartons are also difficult to recycle so using reusable plastic bottles or flasks for their drinks is much less wasteful.

Choose recycled paper items and refillable pens and pencils whenever possible. Children can also make their own little notebooks from the backs of old envelopes and left over pages from exercise books. Try to source text books second hand either from local charity shops

Try and only buy what is needed, do they really need that sparkle pencil case with matching pencils?

Check out the contents of last years bag, probably lots of things that can be reused including paper from old notebooks. Don't forget outgrown uniforms will be much appreciated at charity shops if there are no younger siblings to pass them down to. anyway I think that's enough from me for today so signing off for now.
